How do I reconcile with God?

Contrition or sincere remorse is the most important disposition for confession. Just as loved ones seek to reconcile when something separates them, so we approach confession to be reconciled with God by asking for forgiveness for our sins.

It’s not uncommon to feel nervous, especially the first time, but there’s no need to stress. You will be helped and guided by the confessor. Priests have experience with people confessing for the first time.

If you have been baptized Catholic, you can ask a Catholic priest for confession without any problem. In principle, every priest considers it a pleasant duty to respond to this request. Furthermore, Catholic priests want to be available for everyone, for a confidential conversation, a blessing, a question, etc.
